Before popping a 44 cents postage stamp on each and every one of your wedding invitations, be sure to take a completely assembled invitation to the Post Office!

old stamps

First class stamps (44 cents) only work for pieces of mail that are less than 3.5 ounces and are rectangular. Lots of invitations are square these days… beware of extra postage for this seemingly innocent shape!

Step one is to put together your sample invitation (including sticker labels, stamps, response card, self-addressed, stamped return envelope, etc.) and stop by your local Post Office to get an accurate weight per piece. They will be able to help you determine the required postage for your invites.
